The Lowood-Esk Day Respite Care Centre provides a range of services for frail elderly people and for younger people with disabilities, and their carers. Services include in-centre respite, in-home respite services, social support, community transport and information, and education and support services for carers.

Lowood-Esk Day Respite Centre also operates a program called ‘Extra Care for Carers’, funded by the Australian Government’s National Care for Carers program.

The centre, which operates services at Lowood and Esk, receives funding primarily from the Community Care (HACC) scheme and National Respite for Carers Program. The centre works closely with the Commonwealth Carer Respite Centre, RSL Care and Alzheimer’s Association under a brokerage agreement to supply extra services.
