wahroonga retirement village
Wahroonga Retirement Village is located in Biloela, Queensland, about seven hours drive north of Brisbane and about two hours drive south of Rockhampton.
The village is close to the centre of Biloela.
LCC’s Wahroonga Retirement Village began in 1982 as a small retirement village with the goal of meeting the needs of the local population. The service has grown significantly and now has 74 residents.
There are nine independent living units for retirees, or residents and locals wishing to live independently yet experience the advantages of accessing emergency care and the comfort of a village atmosphere; there are 35 low care and 30 high care beds in its residential aged care area, including 16 places for residents with special needs in the purpose-built dementia unit (all single ensuited rooms). Wahroonga provides the only secure dementia accommodation within a 150km radius.
The village also offers a day therapy centre that provides services to the community.
Wahroonga Retirement Village utilises aged care best practice with a philosophy of minimal restraint, and falls prevention. There is a strong sense of community at Wahroonga with regular activities, church groups and services, music sessions, crafts and bowling all combining to enhance resident lifestyle.
