salem lutheran rest home
Salem Lutheran Rest Home (Salem) was originally established in 1935 to provide a place for missionaries from New Guinea to rest and relax. When the home was no longer required by missionaries, Pastor Gutekunst led a team of volunteers to convert Salem to an aged care service.
Today Salem comprises two services at separate addresses in Toowoomba – Salem Lutheran Rest Home and Northridge Salem.
Salem Lutheran Rest Home has 32 high care places and 63 low care places. Northridge Salem has 42 low care places and a secure 14 room dementia unit. Both services focus on community living and offer chapel areas, shared recreation spaces and a wide range of activities to encourage interaction, participation and involvement.
