Day respite

When you are looking after someone at home it is important to take care of yourself and have a break.  Our aged care services provide a combination of short-term, long-term, planned and emergency residential respite so you can have the comfort of knowing your relative is receiving quality care and attention while you are taking time out.

This type of care can give families a break from caring for their loved ones while they are on holidays or during difficult times. We will look after your family member while you have a well earned break.

Senior Queenslanders can enter our services for a few days or weeks. It is possible for one person to use up to nine weeks of respite during a financial year, or even longer under certain circumstances.

Residential respite offers an opportunity to review care needs and access allied health and specialist services. Also, if there is a possibility your family member might need to enter permanent care in the future, respite offers them a chance to develop friendships and become familiar with the residential care environment.

We will carry out a detailed assessment and develop an individualised care plan taking into account factors such as cultural background, medical and personal history, physical needs and preferences for activities. We pay particular attention to helping new respite clients become a part of the service’s existing resident community. We also ensure there is a plan in place to assist your family member’s return home and maintain continuity of care.
