Community Care Packages

In-home assistance

We are able to provide assistance to live independently to a number of older people in the Buderim area in their own homes or in a retirement village.

What are CACPs?

This assistance is offered through a program known as Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs). Services are tailored to your individual needs.

What kind of services can you expect to receive?
  • assistance with medications, and tasks like applying eye drops and changing dressings
  • showering, getting dressed and general grooming
  • light domestic duties including: hanging out washing, folding and some light ironing wiping down kitchen and bathroom benches, microwaves, carpet sweeping and mopping kitchen and bathroom areas
  • vacuuming (fortnightly if time permits)
  • making beds and changing linen change
  • preparing meals, including peeling, chopping, heating, and
  • transporting you (by arrangement) to medical appointments, social activities and shopping for small quantities of groceries.
Our in-home  care staff may need to request minor household changes in order to ensure they can work safely.

How does it work?

We can provide services for up to one hour per day, on an assessed needs basis. In some cases services can be tailored so you receive day and evening visits. CACPs are subsidised by the government.   The current maximum contribution for CACP recipients who receive the basic rate of pension is $8.38 per day ($58.66 per week).  There is a calculation for the rate payable for recipients whose income exceeds the basic rate of pension.

How can you access help at home if you live on the Sunshine Coast
  1. Arrange an appointment with your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) so that your needs for assistance can be assessed.
  2. If you get approval for in-home support through CACPs, telephone us to make an appointment to discuss your requirements and arrange a time for staff to do an in-home assessment.
